{UAH} Security dumps shopkeeper shot during Katumba attack
Friends
You know this is the Uganda that is not under Iddi Amin, good for yea and enjoy. As I continue to relish in the good country we had under president Amin, I remember the late Oyite Ojoke today. David Oyite Ojoke was from Lango, and this man had to do a trip to Lango every Friday afternoon like clockwork. Sometimes he would go on Thursday but uniformly it was a Friday. And David was very easy to spot for all you had to do as for us that were living in the district was to select one town where you want to watch David when he is going to Lango. I am going to use Wobulenzi town for this piece. If you came to Wobulenzi town and positioned yourself at a store on Kampala road where vehicles to and from Kampala are visible you would never miss David Oyite Ojoke when he is heading to Lango. And you did not need to be introduced to his convoy for it was what Baganda call Kyebonero. Several Mercedes Benzes, and in both types cars and 4X4s, you had about 15 Land Rovers with at least 3 with mounted machine guns, you had a Mini APC and I forget the term they are called, and then followed by some 5 Kamunye's all full with soldiers. So a 5 plus 15 plus several Mercedes Benzes and within that clutter was one of the cars in which David Oyite Ojoke's ass was. One man escorted by such high man power or all Acholi.
And when he arrives at his house the entire Lango is shut down for Oyire as they used to call him was in his house.
I did not see him coming back, he either was passing through in the night or he was going back through Soroti and Jinja for his coming back to Kampala was not peculiar as his heading out. Kids had to leave school early to watch Oyite Ojoke going to firkin Lango. I give him that for unlike all Langi the man went home and built a house , and if you go to Ugandan today please travel to Lango and see Oyite Ojoke's shack it is still there as a slum. This man pulled a three phase line all way from Lira to his house. One house on a full three phase line. And you cannot blame him for that either, for the rest of the homes on that road were huts. When the Lord recalled him, Ugandans went to Lango and reclaimed all the poles that he used to take power from Lira, and I am informing you today that there is no power in the David Oyite Ojoke's shark.
Let me go back to John Dole a man whose legacy I have decided to write about in UAH several times, when he built a home in one of the suburbs of Kampala, that suburb did not have telephone services, they would have pulled a phone line for him from Kampala, he rejected that idea and a telephone exchange was installed in the suburb to feed the entire suburb. I have already stated that he had no body guards, do you know what was his favorite car? A Volks Wagon Beetle and it was white. Old crap and used to have a problem with the gear box over and over but the man loved it. Why don't you drive some of the good cars you have access too? No I do no need them, it is tax payers money, but this helps me to see exactly how Police officers treat civilians on the roads. Very typical responses. And he was pulled over by patrol cars so many times, and he used yes sir to all of them. Just make sure you do not fuck up or he will be on your tail. He loved to drive on Sunday mornings, just to see patrol cars and how they target Ugandans taking their family to church, that was pissing him off, people are taking kids to church and you pull them over for having excess? His kids is excess now? Geese that would make him scream !!!!!
For the record, Although John Dole was in Police Services he was more trained and more worth the position he had than David Oyite Ojoke, for John Doe never went to be trained in UK for he was a Langi, he went for he was picked up as a kid that was smart. By the time the British left Uganda in 1962 John Dole was an AIP in the police of the British government in Uganda. There was no way David Oyite Ojoke's ass would have ever held that position. By the way by the time Uganda got independence and John Dole was an Assistant Inspector of Police, David Oyite Ojoke had not even joined Uganda Army. Just for the record.
And yet John Dole with all the ranks he had, the man was walking to corner stores every day and buying milk, buying bread, stopping at a market and buying meat, he was a father to all his children and he provided. Is there a Ugandan that ever saw David Oyite Ojoke in a store buying milk? Even in firkin Lango. Do you know a restaurant where Oyite just pulled over and ate with the rest of Ugandans? John Dole was driving his kids to school and picking them up every crappie day, did you ever see David Oyite Ojoke dropping his kids at school let alone picking them up? School soccer he attended? Where did you ever see David Oyite Ojoke in Uganda at a public function? John Dole was fun for soccer and he pushed the Police team to play and he always attended, what soccer game did Oyite Ojoke ever attend?
That is why when they both die, Oyite is thrown as rabbit, yet John Dole to today people walk the grounds at his house to put flowers on him, I was surprised that at his funeral buy the time I flew to Uganda, former ministers in Amin's government had arrived. No security no body guards, they are now just ordinally Ugandans showing up to burry a good man and whenever I go home I put flowers to a man I leant so much from. How many Ugandans drive to Lango to put flowers on David Oyite Ojoke? And I opine that Uganda's problem is actually not David Oyite Ojoke or Muchunguzi that got shot at the attempted assassination of General Katumba, Uganda's problem is Peter Simon Okurut that calls David Oyite Ojoke a base of Uganda's Democracy. That is the real and serious problem of Uganda.

Plain-clothed security operatives at the weekend dumped the shopkeeper who was shot during the attempted assassination of the outgoing Minister of Works and Transport, Gen Katumba Wamala, with deep open fresh wound on his left leg.
Boniface Muchunguzi, 27, met his fate last week on Tuesday, when unknown assailants shot at a car carrying Gen Katumba, wounding him and killing his daughter and driver.
Muchunguzi yesterday told Daily Monitor that security operatives picked him on Friday from Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he had been admitted for the last three days and dumped him at a battery workshop where he used to work before the incident.
"They dumped me here without any medication. They even left with my discharge form which had my medical prescription. I am here helpless with too much pain in my leg," Mr Muchunguzi said.
"I cannot walk or stand on my own...," he added.

Mr Muchunguzi said at the time of the shooting, he was working in the workshop, with his boss, Mr Faizo Ssali, a few metres away from where Gen Katumba was attacked.
He said they were outside preparing to start work when the shooting started.
"I managed to enter the workshop and closed the door but it was too late. My leg was bleeding non-stop," Mr Muchunguzi said.

"I was bleeding profusely but we had to wait until the shooting stopped before seeking help. When the shootings stopped, we rushed out and followed Gen Katumba who was being ferried to a nearby clinic on a motorcycle," he added.
An ambulance later took Muchunguzi from Malcom Health Centre to Mulago National Referral hospital where he has been guarded by security officers.
"While at Mulago, my leg was scanned and doctors said I had a small fracture on one of the bones but they said I was going to be fine...," Mr Muchunguzi said.
He said after he was dumped, security operatives told him that they were going to get him some money so that he can go to the village and stay with his mother.
"I have not heard from them up to now," Mr Muchunguzi said.
The deputy spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police, Mr Luke Oweyisigirye, referred us to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) who are handling Gen Katumba's case.
However, the head of the CID, Mr Charles Atwine's phone number was not available by press time.
