{UAH} STOP IMPEDING MASS VACCINATION: PUBLIC CEREMONIES SHOULD GO BACK ONLINE.

Uganda's main mass vaccination center, Kololo independence grounds, has been successively closed down for almost a month to accommodate swearing-in ceremonies, state of the nation addresses, NRM caucus meetings and now most recently the Budget Speech. Yet these public functions can take place elsewhere or even online given the pandemic.

Remember that for Museveni's personal safety, Kololo independence grounds can be fenced off by security for upto two weeks in advance of a particular function. Meaning that in between ceremonies, the facility can barely be available to continue the highly important mass vaccination campaign unimpeded.

Last year's global lock down taught the world to achieve their work purposes differently, mostly online. It also turned out to be a major achievement against wastage of scarce resources on grand public functions and even expensive foreign travel to summits and conferences that could otherwise be done simply on zoom.

If we are serious in saving lives, yet continuing obliviously to impede on the country's own mass vaccination program almost every week, clearly priorities show that our leaders personal pomp and artificial grandeur precedes the fight against Covid-19, and saving the lives of the people of Uganda.
