{UAH} Explain How And Why They Were Killed: Court Directs D/IGP Lokech After Arresting Another Gen. Katumba Suspect…

D/IGP Lokech (L) and Works Minister Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala (R)

The joint security team which is investigating and hunting the gunmen who attacked Works Minister Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala have arrested another suspect.

Credible security sources have intimated to theGrapevine that under the command of Maj. Gen. Paul Lokech, the deputy Inspector General of police (DIGP), another suspect, a one Kanaabe was arrested last night.

Efforts to reach police publicity, CP Fred Enanga were futile for a comment.

However, a source said that according to footage in the hands of security, Kanaabe was transported to the crime scene by Walusimbi Kamada alias Mudinka who was also arrested earlier.

Others arrested and charged in courts of law are, Muhammad Kagugube, Siriman Kisambira, Abudallah-Aziz Ramadhan Dunku, Kamada Walusimbi, Habib Ramadhan Marjan, Yasin Nyanzi and Hussein Sserubula.

They remanded to Kitalya prisons.

However, Johnson Natuhwera, a senior state attorney recently told High Court Judge Musa Ssekaana, the head of the Civil Division that four suspects who were arrested in connection with attacking Gen Katumba were killed during arrest.

Natuhwera named the deceased as Idris Sserwadda, Mustafa Kawawa and their bodies were given to their families for burial.

He said Kawawa was buried at his ancestral home in Bombo in Luwero district and Sserwadda was buried in Rwankoni in Kyotera district.

He revealed that the other two bodies of Hussein Wahab Lubwama alias Master and Juma Said have not yet been claimed.

However, Geofrey Turyamusiima, the lawyer representing the suspects who petitioned Court to force security to produce all the suspects arrested in connection to Gen Katumba's attack said that even though most of them were produced to Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court, he was not convinced with the state's explanation on those killed.

He asked court to force security to explain how the deceased were killed.

Justice Ssekaana agreed with Turyamusiima and directed the state to produce death certificates of the deceased, photos of their bodies and explain the circumstances under which they were killed.

In another development, the deputy registrar of the High Court Criminal Division Festo Nsenga has given state up to Wednesday to respond on bail application filed by Nyanzi and Serubula who are part of the accused.

The ruling on bail is set to be delivered on Friday.

Last month, Gunmen fired bullets at Gen. Katumba Wamala around Kisota in Nakawa Division killing his daughter Brenda Nantongo Katumba and driver Sgt Haruna Kayondo. Since then, a joint team of security forces has been hunting for the suspects.
