In 2016, on 19th Feb, a day after voting on Kizza Besigye as President, he was arrested from FDC Najjanankumbi and put under House until 11th May 2016 when he escaped to swear in.

From then on he was Charged with Treason and remanded to Luzira Prison where he remained until 12th July 2016.

KB spent five months in detention as an elected President of Uganda.

He was released on Bail by Justice Musene and the Treason case has never been heard.
