{UAH} AFRO BASKETBALL: CONGS TO UGANDA SO FAR!

Congratulations Uganda Silverbacks for their first win in this years African Basketball tournament currently taking place in Kigali, Rwanda. I must say that Ugandan basketball has come a long way since how I found it in the 1990's, only four rag tag teams playing amongst themselves, some players even wearing torn shoes, but everyone just persevered for the love of the game. Watching the 2021 Afro Basket tournament, I feel like getting back to basketball again (after more than two decades), maybe as a team coach or something! Meanwhile Cameroon will need a medic for their broken ankles after yesterday's game against Uganda! Let me take this opportunity to congratulate Senegal, DR Congo, Angola and Rwanda for the great professional performances they have displayed so far, and ask the other teams to not give up and always try to improve in both individual talent, and team play. I also call on the Ugandan press, and African media at large, to support basketball by showcasing the continent's sports tournament and also the fantastic NBA games from the USA. I remember in Uganda WBS TV did a great job in promoting the sport, showing highlights from the NBA season every weekend, and this got so many Ugandan youths to get involved in Basketball and enjoy the fun. Young Africans are very inspired by Black-American culture, and look up to them, including in basketball. Good luck to all the African nations still competing in the 2021 Afro Basket tournament, and may the best win!
