{UAH} Plans to persuade judges / magistrates to accept bribe in election petition cases?
Many very bad things can be expected for granted from anywhere including Uganda!
-- Now there are terrible reports circulating everywhere pointing to an exceptional element of very deep corruption! According to the noises, secret manoeuvres are currently underway,or even in some cases have started, to entice magistrates and judges hearing election petition cases into parting with heavy baskets of cash in return for delivering injustice to NUP MPs whom NRM wants to pull out of Parliament! The booty will help the judges / magistrates to sideline any evidence brought forward in favour of NUP and to also refuse to take into account anything stated by any witness proposed by the defence (NUP). Some bits of money have reportedly been thrown to a number of weak lawyers defending NUP candidates.... The plan is said to aim at reducing the number of NUP MPs in Buganda to somewhere around 45 and through the bargain increase NRM's effectives by 15 MPs. It's rumoured that Museveni wants some of his loyal guards who were very shamefully humiliated in defeat by young NUP candidates. NRM hierarchy has been looking ashamed at the very miserably poor performance all over Buganda. And there is also the fear of seeing several NUP petitions go through to warrant a by-election which NRM can no longer win in the central region. In any case NRM lost it all due to many things including total neglect and denial of services to many regions in Buganda including Luweero where the inhabitants felt overly rejected and quite totally marginalized. And many defeated NRM candidates were accused of lying to their constituents on serious questions like the age-limit, etc.. Any by-election in these moments can't favour a win for an NRM candidate in Buganda!
Another very terrible thing depicting a very bad image for the country is the question of
what appears to be a well-programmed murder / genocide going on in Buganda's Masaka region.Very many innocent citizens have been murdered in cold blood by machete-weaving groups of people who have on several occasions escaped any arrest and yet the region has many military and police barracks and stations. This genocide which has already cost the life of over forty persons in just a mere couple of days can't be the work of the peace-loving people of Masaka! There are forces working behind all this. A good number of observers point to some kind of an intended vengeance upon the people of Greater Masaka who very enthusiastically welcomed NUP and voted it very massively in last January's election. The world has heard of the 10m/= proposed to each family that has been affected with this ordeal. Indeed 10m/= to buy the life of a deceased person who died in such horrendous pain! The 10m/= to stand for the entire anticipated achievements the victim was going to be worthy to the family if he had lived successfully his entire life which has been cut short by a machete! Something bigger and more precise involving many actors / institutions should be set up to examine the cause of all this spate of murders and true compensation well-elaborated and studied by a qualified commission should then be proposed .....
There is also another worldwide reported item on Uganda. That's the looming land reform bill which purposely aims at abolishing the mailo land system of tenure in Buganda. This move is cursed everywhere as an injustice that will naturally increase more and more tension on land matters in Uganda. It's only a one Museveni who has failed to deal very effectively with the most deadly ills that are systematically eating away the entire fabric of the Ugandan society who is now pioneering the abolition of a system that has brought about development and prosperity in the country and contributed to a harmonious degree of brotherhood and unity among all Ugandans living in the central region. Reports note how especially the people of Buganda won't be ready to accept such a proposal on mailo land.
Uganda is also very present everywhere, and this time on another key question regarding Oweekitiibwa Fred Kajjubi Lumbuye, a leading African blogger and humanitarian / political activist kidnapped almost four weeks ago and secretly kept in safe custody in Ankara, Turkey. Lumbuye hasn't been seen anywhere since that day. And his whereabouts are a special concern for the Ugandan communities worldwide and for the many individuals and humanitarian groups and even leading world jurist commissions and the ICC.A secret search involving special groups of detectives and investigators have now come to notice Lumbuye's presence in Uganda's Embassy in Ankara. The tough Turkish police supported by another top secret detective body is reported to secretly surround all areas in the vicinity of the embassy.
There is now full certainty that Lumbuye is illegally held there after being illegally abducted from his residence.Turkish law is very severe on illegal abduction and illegal detention. The very number one culprit who will pay a very dear price for all this very silly fuss is Uganda's ambassador to Turkey, one Stefano Mubiru and some of his staff. They have personally landed on a snare which will involve them personally and in a personal capacity for having broken into Lumbuye's residence and taken away the victim together with some of his property, kidnap and theft! There is no way the Kampala regime could intervene in what is now seen as an offer on a golden plate to the Turkish authorities, now very eager to try to fend off in some ways the very painful Jamal Khashoggi affair. This diplomatic error is now turning into a blessing for Turkey!
Faced with the gravity of the question the Embassy is now puzzled and may not know what to exactly do in order to escape from this Lumbuye question. Many Ugandans who had strongly collaborated in the matter are now reported on the run, some have secretly arrived in Kampala to escape arrest and very stiff prison sentences in Turkey!! And the more the days pass on and on the more serious the matter becomes as each day brings in an abundance of intervention for Lumbuye. I think the Embassy now has nothing spectacular to do except to try and take all risks to throw a sickly Lumbuye somewhere outside where he will be picked up by some good Samaritans. Kampala will do nothing because the case will involve only the Ambassador and his staff and of course those Ugandans who secretly participated in the affair. But it will leave Uganda's image tarnished and Turkey's brightened! Directly or indirectly the world will come to know that the Ambassador was receiving instructions from home! And Lumbuye is coming out as a hero whose illegal arrest and long illegal detention have won him the entire sympathy of his country, its diaspora which has worked relentlessly for him, and of the international community which is discovering more and more about full injustice in Uganda where very many youths are illegally detained without trial in many prisons and torture camps! The ICC is opening up a file on all this including the Lumbuye affair. And the whole world is definitely going to enthusiastically welcome this file.
Attention is also given to the Kabaka's condition now undergoing treatment in Germany. All are happy to see that the world famous monarch will have a chance to receive special medical care from eminent teams of specialists. Many are the wishes for his full recovery. At least he's now far from that Kabaka whose image shocked the entire planet some months ago when he appeared in public on his birthday celebrations and wasn't even able to address his subjects.May God keep him healthy and strong for ever and ever!
There has also been word about those Ugandan generals who have of late passed away.May God have mercy on them for all the wrongs they did and grant them eternal rest. And especially sincere condolences to their families and relatives. These deceased generals,Pecos Kutesa and Paul Lokech, although controversial somewhere, should be condoled in a way Bobi Wine and Norbert Mao did.And this pleased very much the Banyankore and the Acholis. What the two politicians wanted to show is the fact lying in an effort to think about the families and humble relations of the deceased. Anyway, out of these deaths the two politicians took the opportunity to carefully look for a patriotic circumstance that wouldn't leave some annoyed and others disappointed, a political card well-played, some would probably say!
