{UAH} PUBLIC STATEMENT: GUINEE MILITARY COUP!

Congratulations to Lt. Colonel Mamadou Doumbayi (picture attached) and the Guinean military on taking action on behalf of the powerless poor people of Guinee Conakry to stop a leadership which, against the will of the people, embarked on raping the Constitution for itself to stay in power, removing term limits by using a corrupt parliamentary dispensation which rather than expanding democracy, was instead abusing powers conferred upon them by the people, and using it to entrench and legitimize despotism. It was time that this heinous trend spreading across Africa start to be stopped.

I call on Ecowas, the African Union and the whole country of Guinee itself, including its military, civil society, political parties and development partners, to remain firm and united in quickly initiating together a new progressive national contract that will ensure institutions like for example a ceremonial presidency, an executive premier, and a peoples parliament which combined, will at all times serve the people of Guinee, and at all times uphold the sovereignty of the will of the people over their own country's destiny.
