{UAH} DEMOCRATS "PROTECT" WOMEN BY ELIMINATING THEM

Democrats 'protect' women by eliminating them

Democrats are constantly selling themselves as the “party of women.” Thanks to their messaging, millions of women believe them and vote accordingly. But the mask is about to slip.

The Democratic-controlled House recently passed and the Senate has just introduced a bill that could rank among the most anti-woman and certainly anti-child legislation in U.S. history. Despite the benign title, the Women’s Health Protection Act will do the opposite of what its name implies. If passed, this law will result in fewer health protections for women, worse health outcomes, and, most revoltingly of all, a drastic increase in innocent children killed by the violence of abortion.

The act is an extreme attempt to expand abortion in the United States. It could overturn every pro-life law on the books anywhere in the country, and abortion would be legalized and even publicly funded without any limits whatsoever. That means children will be aborted on-demand, up until birth, for “reasons” as callous as their sex, race, or disability. Apparently, many politicians are in favor of discrimination as long as it results in more abortions and fewer babies.

Even without the act, abortion law is a mess. Thanks to Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the U.S. already has among the most permissive abortion laws in the world. As a result of this judicial fiction, many states have laws that allow abortion up to the moment of birth for any reason whatsoever. But Democrats led by Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, who introduced this bill, don’t seem to think that’s enough. And this time, he and his pro-abortion allies in Congress have a powerful ally.

The last time this law was introduced, it was co-sponsored by then-Sen. Kamala Harris. This should come as no surprise. Harris readily prosecuted pro-life journalists and attempted to force crisis pregnancy centers to advertise for the abortion industry while California attorney general. Now, as vice president, she is even better positioned to drive her pro-abortion agenda, an agenda that gravely violates our basic human rights and is at odds with the wishes of the people.

Seventy percent , for instance, oppose aborting children because they have Down syndrome. But this is precisely the kind of discriminatory abortion that this new law allows. We don’t have to imagine the horror of what this would look like. In Iceland, where aborting the disabled has been a common practice for years, almost all the children with Down syndrome have been exterminated before they ever had the chance to be born.

There is also real-world evidence of discriminatory abortions committed on the basis of sex. Under China’s aggressive population control laws, 71 million girls were killed in abortion or post-birth infanticide. Time and again, parents and Chinese authorities let the boys live and condemned the girls to die. While the U.S. government doesn’t force abortion on families as the Chinese state does, girls are still discriminated against through abortion in America.

Despite the minimal protections against sex-selective abortions today, research has shown that thousands of baby girls have still been targeted in the womb, killed for being female. I shudder to imagine how that number will go up if sex-selected abortion is legalized in the U.S., especially among communities where the culture still values men far higher than women.

Not only would this legislation proactively legalize discriminatory abortion, but it would also cut funding for religious hospitals that serve tens of millions of people and remove basic health and safety standards that are desperately needed to protect women . It would even strip conscience protections for medical professionals, meaning the very doctors and nurses who so heroically protected us through the pandemic can be thrown out of their jobs for refusing to be a party to infanticide.

The people actually want the exact opposite of what pro-abortion politicians are trying to do. Recent polling reveals that 76%, including a majority of self-described pro-choice people, want significant restrictions on abortion. Nearly six out of every 10 people want to end taxpayer funding for abortion in the U.S., including 65% of independents. Meanwhile, 65% want Roe overturned in some fashion.

The Women’s Health Protection Act places its supporters squarely on the wrong side of public opinion, the wrong side of history, and the wrong side of justice. Pro-abortion politicians have been driven by radical activists out of touch with the public and a greedy abortion industry to push for something no one with a good conscience wants: the death of even more innocent babies.
