IT'S TIME TO END BLOGGERS' IMPUNITY, TYCOON LWASA SAYS AS HE VOWS TO ENSURE WISDOM KAYE GETS TO ROTS IN JAIL TOO

Notorious Ugandan tycoon Emmanuel Lwasa says there is time for everything under the sun. And now is time for the impunity with which bloggers and journalists have been using TV and social media platforms to disparage innocent citizens to be subjected to some scrutiny.

Lwasa says, having been inspired by the public support musician Omulangira Suuna has received for standing up for his rights against defamation and peddlers of fake news, he has already instructed a team of lawyers to take on Wisdom Kaye, a notorious blogger who he says isn't even fit to work as his shamba boy.

The renowned Masaka tycoon says he has collected all the videos in which Wisdom Kaye, who he has even never met, saying nasty and untrue things about him. Lwasa rightly says that the Omulangira Ssuuna experience has demonstrated that working with a big-name media house doesn't bring any journalist any immunity from prosecution.

And in his case, Lwasa (unlike Omulangira Ssuuna who proceeded against his tormentors under the Computer Misuse Act) will be proceeding under civil defamation law whereby on having his guilt established and proved before a Court of competent juridisiction, the ill-fated Wisdom Kaye will have to pay him damages in millions of shillings as opposed to being jailed in Luzira or Kitalya. He can only be herded into jail upon failing to pay Lwasa his damages as instructed by Court.
