{UAH} How is it now and why is everyone silent?

By Ronald Muhinda

When walk to Work was launched  on 11th April, 2011, a little of petrol was 2,700shs, a kilogram of sugar  1,200shs, a kilogram of bread 1,400shs and traveling from Kampala to Mbarara on a full capacity bus 10,000shs and to Bushenyi 13,000shs.

How is it now and why is everyone silent?

As prices have enormously increased, so has the number of elected leaders.

In 2011, Uganda had 332 MPs who increased  to 426 in 2016 and are now 529 in 2022. What is their value addition?

In 2011, Uganda had about 90 districts from 33 when NRA bombed it's way into Kampala. By 2016, Uganda had 112 districts and we now have around 135 (I have lost count). Each district comes with Chairperson and new Councillors.

KCCA had 32-35 Councillors in 2011. In 2021, the Authority has 54. Has Kampala changed?

The agitation for new constituencies, districts and other administrative units is led by politicians who vigorously pursue their projects until they get them.

Why do the same politicians not use the force when prices of commodities have doubled?

It's because we people pay politicians to afford commodities that we can't afford. We even buy them cars and fuel them. For others, we even dress them (like in Parliament, MPs and staff get dressing allowances).

This is 3rd world Highly Indebted Poor Country Uganda that we have created.

We need to close Uganda and take it to a scrap yard for recycling. If not, the Uganda Museveni and his politicians have created is a corpse.

What changes nations are leaders who care for the people. In Uganda, you have mis-leaders who care for themselves. Those will change themselves but not change Uganda.

So where do turn to for change?
