{UAH} Kyagulanyi refutes wrangles, intrigue in NUP
KAMPALA - The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has denied allegations of infighting among the party leaders with the party.
Addressing journalists at the party offices in Kamwokya, the party leader, Robert Kyagulanyi said the allegations are just manifested to cause division among the forces of change.
"About the purported intrigue and wrangles; those are results of propaganda, which at many times is sponsored by the regime to draw wars between the forces of change," he noted.
However, he added, "but again you can not just dismiss all rumors and information that comes to you. Like we have said severally, we continue to stand by our word and we shall see all people by their actions."
He also defended their red berets, saying it is not military attire but the state was only harassing their members to create fear among them.
"This is a people power beret, and that is why you have not seen or will not see anybody convicted for wearing this beret. Because they know they use the military like they use the police to play politics," he added.
"But as they continue to arrest those wearing the red berets, recently you saw veteran journalists Andrew Mwenda wearing a full military uniform and all of must have seen a statement from the army spokesperson Flavia Byekwaso who said that Mwenda will be investigated.
"But the Commander Land Forces came out and defended him with a mere tweet. But the same person one time came out and tweeted that our beret belongs to them and many of our people were arrested for putting on these red people power berets," he noted.
