Belarus preparing to send soldiers to Ukraine in support of Russia

A US official said Sunday night that Belarus is preparing to send soldiers into Ukraine as soon as Monday in order to support Russia's ongoing military campaign in the country.

"It's very clear Minsk is now an extension of the Kremlin," the official said, referring to the Belarus capital.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said last week that troops could be sent into the country to aid Russian troops if needed.

The country, which borders Ukraine to the north, will be hosting peace talks between delegations from Ukraine and Russia on Monday.
