Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, the National Unity Platform (NUP) party president has blamed the leadership at Mengo of conniving with president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to weaken Buganda kingdom.

The singer turned politician revealed that leaders at Mengo led by Kingdom's Prime minister Charles Peter Mayiga are hostile to revolutionary statements which are intended to open the minds of the Baganda especially the youths who are yearning for political, social and economic change.

"How many times have you heard my voice on our CBS radio or seen me on our BBS TV? Don't you ask yourself why prominent Baganda are the ones attacking me whenever they hear me make revolutionary statements against our tormentors? We are the ones, we the Baganda allowing those people to make us their slaves by fighting each other," Bobi Wine said.

He added that because of intimidation and bribery, the likes of Dan Mulika the former Katikkiro of Buganda and Nakirembeka Waliggo the former head of clan chiefs are no longer allowed to participate in Mengo activities because of their liberal ideologies in fighting for Buganda.

He said that the president understands very well that Baganda can be easily used to fight his enemies whenever he bribes them or intimidates them.

He gave an example of the late Besweri Mulondo who used to fight those who were agitating for the Federal system of government.

He added that the Mengo leadership are too selfish that is why they fought hard to weaken Baganda youth association Nkobazambogo who were fighting for the sovereignty of their Kingdom.

Bobi Wine wondered why Buganda elders are quiet and looking on when youths are being incarcerated in safe houses, tortured and others killed because of their political ideologies.

He added that it is by design to impoverish the people of Buganda through grabbing of their land to make them landless so that they can become slaves who only survive on handouts given to them by their captors.

"The biggest job most youths in Buganda can do after university is bodaboda riding, you mean youths from other regions do not know how to ride boda bodas? This is a planned move. That's why Buganda was removed on the country's map and it is now indicated as Central Region yet other regions remained with their names," he added.

He pleaded to Buganda youths to stand up and fight for their Kingdom instead of waiting for their leaders who he accused of being selfish and working for their stomachs and their families.

"For me I was a musician, singing for my king and my clan heads like Owekitiibwa Waliggo but when I realised that our people are do not care about the future of our country,  I decided to moblize my fellow musicians like Nubian Lee and the likes of Eddy Mutwe to join politics to liberate our country that's why we are here for you," Bobi Wine added.

Bobi Wine was supported by Dan Mulika who disclosed that he showed the plan of weakening Buganda in early 1990's and he tried to mobilise his tribesmen and women to fight the 1995 Constitution but many didn't understand him and instead decided to go in bed with president Museveni.

The remarks were made at Buyita village, Namuganga sub county, Kasawo town council, Mukono district during the graduation party of Abdul Wagaba Musiitwa, a former member of the defunct Nkobazambogo who graduated from Kampala International University Bushenyi campus with a Bachelor's degree in Medicine.

The ceremony was also graced by other radical Buganda elders like Owekitiibwa Nakirembeka Waliggo, former Buganda ministers Ssewava Sserubiri, Owekitiibwa Israel Mayengo, clan heads led by Mbogo clan leader Kayira Gajule, Omuttaka Kasujja Kyesimba of the Engeye clan, Omuttaka Walusimbi of the Ffumbe clan, Omuttaka Mutesasira of the Ngo clan and others.
