{UAH} Resistance, international reaction appear to stall mighty Russia in Ukraine
By all means it's logically clear that Russia has a great potential advantage over Ukraine in the ongoing military conflict thanks to its very great military muscle of a world power and all that it takes to win a war. And it's in principle for this reason that Moscow expected to have Ukraine on its knees within just a week from the start of the conflicts. But, according to serious observers, this isn't yet the case as Russia, in spite of several gains on the ground, is failing to measure up correctly with the determination of the Ukrainians. It's then in this perspective that some observers look to a war that may go on for several years.
-- Russia is too mighty for Ukraine but this first phase of the war appears a disappointment to Moscow. Four reasons are given to support this point. First, the Russian troops appear to be less trained for this actual war. Second, they lack motivation in general. Third, they are somehow a bit indisciplined. Fourth, they appear to have been badly carrying out, with gross miscalculation, the planned attacks. All this seems to be playing in favour of an average but quite very determined Ukrainian army which enjoys the full support of the population and a lot of sympathy from the international community. The French defence minister didn't mince her words when she openly stated that if Russia attacked Ukraine Moscow would just be able to see how the allies would get united... It was in France that in a TV debate on the subject all potential presidential candidates in the forthcoming polls unanimously agreed on the necessity of arming Ukraine and also on the effort to have Russian leader Poutine, whom the debate qualified as a new Hitler, arrested.....
A sample opinion poll taken before the debate and whose results were read in the course of the debate showed that 53% of the total population were in favour of any French engagement in the conflicts in Ukraine. It seems the French do mean it. Buses loaded with volunteers are regularly heading to the Ukrainian border with teams of doctors, ex-servicemen, and young volunteers determined to fight, and French Légionnaires with a lot of military experience. They are all ready to enroll into President Zelensky's International Legion. France is expected to provide around 6.000 volunteers. And 250 French soldiers of the 7th battalion of fighter pilots and soldiers of the light infantry have also left with a given motive to assist the civilians and where necessary to get involved in case of necessity. France has also provided its famous air-craft carrier Charles de Gaulle with a mission to carry out dissuasive manoeuvres. French planes are already flying over neighbouring Rumania in view of this mission.France doesn't want to see Ukraine defeated and humiliated by Russia. And there is a lot of support extended to President Zelensky. In the nation's important Grévin Museum in Paris where statues of important world personalities are displayed Poutine's statue has been pulled down and replaced by that of Zelensky whom the Museum committee of directors commend and praise for his heroism in favour of his people whom he has refused to abandon, and for his determination to defend the country at all costs. This tone is in line with what the very popular Monsieur jean-Yves le Drian, a Minister at the European Union and France's Foreign Affairs Minister, stated yesterday in an interview on TV. He openly blamed Russia for the invasion which violates the sovereignty of Ukraine. He commended the Ukrainian leader for his patriotic determination which has won him the support of the entire world. In the course of the same interview an Ukrainian MP stated how
her country will never accept Russia's plan to create a new Soviet Empire in the region.....And a reporter from inside Ukraine, showing the very serious damage done to Ukraine by Russian bombing, showed how the people of Ukraine are exceptionally determined to fight to death in order to defend their country.
Mighty Russia remains militarily very strong but countries like France, Canada, Italy, Britain, Germany, etc..have dissuasive powers embedded in their military logistics which is difficult to wipe out militarily. It's this logistic together with colossal packs of material aid and big finances that will comfort Ukraine's war effort. The USA, quite weary of her foreign military interventions in particular in the Middle East, isn't expected to participate militarily in the conflict but is expected to provide logistic material and finance, and has promised to send all this logistics to Ukraine very soon! And there are thousands of willing US volunteers ready to go to Ukraine.
Ukraine's diaspora has been very impressive in the way it has mobilized so widely in favour of their country. Here in France every Ukrainian is very strongly mobilized to support the war.And the French themselves are all on Ukraine's side. Gigantic collections of material aid in clothes and basic foodstuffs are very warmly going on everywhere in the country. And gatherings for updates on the situation are assembling huge crowds, like yesterday in Paris where 50.000 people gathered to listen to reports read by several influential people. The public is in addition encouraging departures to the front.Very many Ukrainians living in France have already left. However some 18 to 20 French soldiers of Ukrainian origin were arrested when trying to leave for Ukraine because, according to French laws, a military can privately take part in such a conflict only on express permission from a general. These soldiers had no written instrument signed by any general. Of course they will later on be authorized to go for their intended mission. Any general will definitely authorize them to do so.
African masses everywhere have given the impression of siding with Ukraine. And many African governments share their position. On the other hand, and on a solidly measured tone, the European Union is warning African nations not to side with Russia but to abide by the United Nations resolution on the situation. Very few African nations are supporting Russia but the majority of the regimes are for Ukraine. African countries strongly attached to Russia have been very much criticised for their very bad policies which have included the oppression of the poor masses and the implantation of very harsh dictatorships that tend to the torture of the innocent and to other very bad evils such as corruption, etc... They have all been exposed as purely inhumane regimes.
Rumours of a cease-fire? Perhaps temporarily. But this may not mean something of a prelude to the end of hostilities. It's very important to know what could be the terms of agreement for this cease-fire and whether both sides, resolute on their individual positions not to accept defeat, are ready to accept with eagerness any end to hostilities....
Many institutions, including notably the Vatican through Pope Francis himself, are trying to initiate a dialogue between the two foes. But many observers agree on one point, that's what some analysts qualify as Russia's yet still ungodly character which might render things more and more difficult.
Will the almost quasi world unanimity in favour of Ukraine as so far witnessed be a prelude to a foundation that will advocate for a new world order that will see all international communities / committed organizations come together and launch federated actions on those widely known oppressive regimes? This view is being put into recommendation by several groups which have always shown concern on bad events going on in some parts of the world. The rumoured promoters of such initiative think that such a policy would naturally put an end to the general indifference which accompanies official state torture, persecution, exploitation of the humble masses, and all human rights violations. Many oppressive regimes go with almost full impunity in this regard. The well-organized get-together on Ukraine is what some experts would love to see in a repeat against several dictatorships.
