{UAH} Commandante Fidel Castro

67 years ago , Fidel Castro and 25 other members of the 26 July movement were freed from the Model Prison on Cuba's Isle of Youth. They were released following a prisoner amnesty and after serving 19 months for their part in the 1953 attack on the Moncada Barracks against the dictatorship of General Fulgencio Batista. Shortly after their release they fled to Mexico and it was here that Raul Castro met Che Guevara and introduced him to Fidel. Two year's later they would return to Cuba and launch the armed struggle from the Sierra Maestra.
