{UAH} THE FORMATION OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS' AFRICAN REVOLUTIONARY FRONT (USARF) IN DAR SALAAM UNIVERSITY TANZANIA 1967



In 1967, African students of Dar Salaam University of Tanzania established University Students' African Revolutionary Front (USARF) where Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was elected as its chairperson, deputized by Charles Killeo from Tanzania and Kapote Mwakasupa as Secretary General (SG) from Malawi and Dr. John Garang De Mabior as executive member from Sudan and many others in the leadership.

The meeting of University Students' African revolutionary Front (USARF) convened serious of deliberations to discuss matters of Pan-African affairs across the continent as Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, a future later president of Uganda inculcated spirit of Pan-Africanism. 

Dr. John Garang De Mabior from Sudan as member of University Students' African Revolutionary Front (USARF) was inspired with objectives of the platform as one of the founders of USARF and he developed political consciousness in 1967 when he was student of Dar Salaam University studying East Africa Agriculture Economics in the University. 

In one of the meeting chaired by Museveni in 1968, as chairperson of University Students' African Revolutionary Front (USARF), Museveni Kaguta Museveni presented objectives of FRELIMO of Mozambique under Samora Michael where they agreed to support all "Pan-African Liberation Movements" in the University

Members of University Students' African Revolutionary Front (USARF) went to their respective countries and joined the movement. 

But Dr. John Garang De Mabior went back to Iowa State, USA for his Ph.D after he got scholarship and returned to Sudan where he later founded SPLM/A with rest of his colleagues. 

The ideals of University Students' African Revolutionary Front (USARF) under chairmanship of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was to created political consciousness for Pan-African students to advocated for African Liberation Movements across the continent of Africa. 

As Young generations across the continent of Africa, we are still to Carry on ideals of Pan-Africanism and African Nationalism.
