{UAH} Kenya's Supreme Copurt Ruling

Folks;

About 10 days ago, I opined here that some of the affidavits that had been filed in the Supreme Court read between a fishing expedition and outright thoughtful wishes.

However, the Petitioners' lawyers had made a strong case on 4 substantative Petitions: the 50+ threshold, the missing 27 constituencies, the role of the IEBC chair, and the integrity of the IEBC servers. I was counting on these 4 Petitions.

In the end, the Supremes didn't see it that. In their ruling, they did not even mention the fate of the 27 constituencies!

Moreover, they casually dismissed the allegations of server integrity without explaining why the same IP for a polling station in Bungoma also reported votes from Nyeri when IP was unique to each polling station.

The only silver lining in their ruling was their call to reform the IEBC.

Here, the Supreme Court found IEBC to be so mismanaged as to neccessitate institutional reform. And yet, they found the same IEBC to have managed the vote tallying within applicable statues. How?

As we all know, Kenya is enjoying all this conflicting benefits of judiciary independence and democracy in no small part because of Raila.

From the time he was in his 20's as lecturer at Nairobi University in the 1970's, Raila has fougt to liberate Kenyans from the yoke of one-man, authoritarian and undemocratic rule. He never flinched in his struggles, even when he suffered personal torture and imprisonment.

I hope that history will be kind enough to mention his contributions to the liberation of Kenya. He deserves no less.

President-elect William Ruto is a young man. He's demonstrated that he's versed with the challenges of leading a nation. Like every presidents, he'll need the support of all Kenyans. So, he, too, deserves no less.
