{UAH} Chipper Cash

Chipper Cash is an investing app where you can buy and sell foreign stocks for as little as 10k. You can also buy and sell some crypto currencies. Chipper Cash has a brokerage license from the Uganda Securities Exchange. It also has a payment service provider and payment systems operator license from Bank of Uganda.

My strategy with Chipper Cash is very simple. I invest 200k per month to buy a simple S&P 500 index called Vanguard VOO. This means I own a tiny portion of the 500 largest listed companies in the USA. As a shareholder I earn dividends and capital gains if the share prices go up.

Chipper Cash is a very tiny portion of my investment portfolio. I don't expect to earn a lot of money from it. I am using it for education and experimentation purposes. I have so far invested about $960 and the market value of my stocks is $832.

Chipper Cash was actually cofounded by a Ugandan called Ham Serunjogi and it is now valued at over $2.2 billion and has over five million users. It's amazing how technology has opened up the investment world to ordinary people across the globe!

Investing in shares and crypto currencies is a very risky business and is not for everyone. If you don't like seeing your portfolio go down, just buy a simple unit trust and sleep peacefully.
