{UAH} TikTok in the middle of the US- China trade war

TIK- TOK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CHINA- USA TRADE WAR.

Full disclosure here: I don't use TikTok, I don't have an account with them. I've only seen TikTok videos being shared via WhatsApp and Facebook. However, I really didn't expect what seemed like a mostly innocent app for sharing short videos and memes to be at the forefront of the U.S.- China trade war.

 TikTok set up a separate company in the United States, with servers located in the United States to avoid the ban, but still, the US wants them out. Its management is dominated by the Americans, not Chinese.

The US has done similar things with other Chinese social media apps, like WeChat, but China is still growing. 

There's nothing TikTok does which other apps don't do. Pretty much every other social media app collects the same information. They all have the ability to collect your IP address. Facebook, for instance, recently requested for my ID( driver's license) when someone hacked into my account. 

That's why i don't get it why we are up in arms about this when companies in America engage in the same practice either.

Just look at US tech multinationals and how they've cooperated with the U.S. intelligence departments to collect user's data. The PRISM, for instance, is a tool used by the National Security Agency to collect private data belonging to users from major tech companies like Google, Microsoft, Apple, Yahoo, etc. 

Whoever uses the Internet anywhere in the world, literally, has their details stored somewhere in the USA. The Chinese are just catching up in this game, but the US is already doing it. 

Anyway, Tiktok or not, China is soon to be the core of the world economy if it isn't already. Also, it seems everyone, including traditional US allies ,like France, Germany, Gulf States, New Zealand, and even Japan, are doing everything to not take sides. China is also refraining from forming alliances that would offend them. For example, it has zero military treaties with Russia not to offend Europeans, but will that change if the Europeans eventually join the US against China? We wait and see!
