Texas Attorney General Launches Investigation Into Red Cross's Role In Illegal Immigration At The Southern Border

Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office is looking into the Red Cross.

This comes after a Daily Caller News Foundation report discovered the organization offers guides to help immigrants cross the border illegally.

Right now, a formal investigation has not been opened. Instead, Paxton and his team are reviewing and gathering information. Then, they will decide if this calls for a formal investigation. The Daily Caller News Foundation got their hands on a few of the guides, and they say that the guides reveal travel routes to take to the U.S. border so that you can illegally cross and tips on what to do if you encounter certain situations the way. Guides also advise immigrants to bring medications they take, such as birth control, and inform them that some Red Cross locations can give birth control for free.

The Red Cross currently gives millions of taxpayer dollars to illegal immigrants released into the United States. According to The Daily Caller, “The American Red Cross sits on the board of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Food and Shelter program that hands millions of dollars in U.S. taxpayer funding to nonprofit groups supporting migrants released into the U.S. interior.”

Paxton says that a probe opened in 2022 alleged that the Red Cross is helping facilitate the massive surge of immigrants crossing the border illegally. They are doing this by donating to groups that encourage illegal crossings and possibly using taxpayer dollars.

Paxton says that Texas does have the authority to oversee and investigate charitable organizations, which includes the Red Cross. The State Bar of Texas clarifies that this is not a partisan issue, and the Red Cross has not released a comment on the situation at this time.
