New Poll Released: Trump Dominates 2024 Matchup With 45% Independent Support

According to the latest Harvard CAPS-Harris poll, a significant portion of independent voters are showing support for former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical matchup for the 2024 presidential election.

The poll reveals that 45 percent of independents favor Trump, while only 27 percent support President Joe Biden.

Interestingly, Trump also maintains a lead over Biden among voters across party lines. The survey indicates that 45 percent of all voters would back Trump, while 40 percent plan to vote for Biden. However, a notable 16 percent of voters remain undecided on their candidate of choice.

In another hypothetical scenario, the poll examines a potential race between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and President Biden. The results show a near tie, with DeSantis receiving 41 percent of the vote and Biden closely trailing at 40 percent.

When it comes to the Republican primary race, Trump continues to dominate as the frontrunner by a significant margin. The poll reveals that 12 percent of voters support Governor DeSantis, while businessman Vivek Ramaswamy garners 10 percent of the vote. Recent polls have shown DeSantis and Ramaswamy tied for second place, with the businessman gaining popularity while the governor's support wanes.

Breitbart News highlights that Governor DeSantis also holds a slight advantage in a hypothetical matchup against Vice President Kamala Harris, with 41 percent of support compared to Harris's 39 percent. However, Trump's lead widens to 47 percent when pitted against Harris, who receives 40 percent of the vote.

The survey, conducted online from July 19-20, 2023, included 2,068 registered voters.
