Hunter Biden’s Legal Team Crumbles as Three Top Attorneys Withdraw

Three of Hunter Biden’s defense attorneys have chosen to withdraw from his ongoing case.

This unexpected development comes on the heels of the dismissal of two tax misdemeanors against Biden by a Delaware judge, at the behest of Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors. The legal shakeup raised eyebrows and questions about the future of Hunter’s legal defense.

The attorneys from Latham & Watkins LLP – Brian C. McManus, Timothy H. McCarten, and Matthew S. Salerno – filed a motion to withdraw their counsel for Biden.

After Delaware U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika granted the DOJ’s request to dismiss tax charges in Delaware, this decision opened up the possibility of charging Hunter in Washington, D.C., or the Central District of California.  https://twitter.com/i/status/1693287495973359953

The motion to withdraw was clear and concise, stating Hunter had been advised of, and consented to, their withdrawal.

It further stated Hunter agreed this withdrawal would cause no material adverse effect or prejudice to him and remained completely satisfied with Messrs. Lowell’s and Jones’s continued representation of him.

However, the departure of these attorneys is not the only controversy surrounding Hunter’s legal team.

In a surprising twist, Hunter will now be represented by Abbe Lowell of Winston & Strawn LLP and Richard I.G. Jones Jr. of Berger Harris LLP.

This comes after his top defense counsel, Christopher J. Clark, also withdrew from the case due to his role in the failed guilty plea negotiation between DOJ prosecutors and Hunter’s legal team.

The guilty plea fell apart, following a dispute between Hunter’s legal team and DOJ prosecutors over an immunity provision in the diversion agreement for his felony gun charge. As a result, Hunter ended up pleading not guilty to the two tax misdemeanors before they were dismissed.

Adding to the intrigue, Latham & Watkins drew controversy when a staffer from the firm allegedly misrepresented her identity to the Clerk’s office.

She claimed to work for Theodore Kittila, the attorney for the House Ways and Means Committee. This committee was trying to have Noreika consider testimony from IRS whistleblowers showing “political interference” in the Hunter Biden investigation.

The incident was later attributed to a “miscommunication” and the staffer denied any intent to deceive the court in a sworn affidavit.

Meanwhile, amidst all the legal turmoil, Hunter Biden is set to join President Joe Biden for a family vacation in Lake Tahoe, California.

This news comes as the Biden family and its associates are reported to have received more than $20 million in payments from Ukrainian, Russian, Chinese, Romanian, and Kazakh business associates, according to the House Oversight Committee.
