When Africans Ruled Spain 🇪🇸 and Portugal 🇵🇹 

▪️In 711 A.D., a group of North Africans (known as the Moors and were Muslims) led by the Berber General, Tariq ibn-Ziyad, captured the Iberian Peninsula

▪️The Iberian Peninsula is the modern day Spain and Portugal 

▪️The Berber People are indigenous to the North Africa specifically in Maghreb, and predate the arrival of the Arabs

▪️Specifically and then, they lived in modern day parts of Morocco, Algeria, Libya, and to a lesser extent Tunisia, Mauritania, Northern Mali and Northern Niger

▪️Back to 711 ADD, the Berbers led by their General passed through Morocco and crossed the Strait of Gibraltar to enter Iberian Peninsula

▪️Upon their arrival, they built universities and mosques (by then, the majority of the Berbers had converted into Islam) in Spain

▪️In addition, they also made huge contributions to Mathematics, Medicine, Chemistry, Philosophy, Astronomy, Botany, Masonry and History.

▪️Over time, he territory became a prosperous cultural and economic center where education and the arts and sciences flourished

▪️The Moors remained in control of this Region, until their influence diminished in the 15th Century.The Moors were not like us Bantus. They were very light skinned. So by integrating with Caucasians for such a long time, one cannot tell apart.

▪️Specifically, they lost control of the Peninsula in 1442 during the Granada War
