{UAH} Remembering Abdul - shoes

Anyone remember the story of Abdul and his funny Arabian shoes?

It was one of my earliest reading in Primary school.

Had to remember Abdul from a reminder by Trump yesterday. Any mention of or meeting an Abdul always triggers memories of my primary school Abdul star and his Arabian-Moorish poulaines shoes.

Soon we were to see secondary schoolers - some in shorts, others in bellbottoms and all in snow white Yamato shirts with various school badges - return home for holidays with super exaggerated forms and types of shoes that came to be known only as Abdul.

Abduls started to appear on the streets and dusty village footpaths soon after his story appeared in English class.

There were even shops veranda shoe repairers who performed plastic surgery on normal Bata leather shoes turning them into Abduls.

Together with belllbottoms, I thought these were the most ridiculous fashions only fit for jesters and clowns but they persisted.

I am daiyummmm sure Prof Emuron (aka Dr.) Okurut the Katakwian owned a pair or more.

Here are a few Abduls.
