{UAH} Some interesting FACTS about Somalia

1. The country has the longest coastline in Mainland Africa estimated as over 3,300 KMs, and comes 2nd to Madagascar 🇲🇬 in Africa Continent 

2. Prior to the Civil Unrest and instability witnessed from 1990, Somalia 🇸🇴 was; 

a) A top producer of Sorghum in Africa and ranked 12th in 1989 with an annual production of 0.33 Million MTs (nearly thrice Kenya's Production)

b) Leading producer of Sugar Cane in the region and reached highs of nearly 0.5 Million MTs in late 80s ranking within Top 20 Producers of Sugar Cane in Africa 

c) Somalia 🇸🇴 was once among the leading producers of Bananas in Africa, and it ranked 9th in late 70s

3. Even in the current, Somalia 🇸🇴 is a trying despite its security challenges 

a) In 2021, Somalia 🇸🇴 ranked 22nd in Africa in Production of Dry Beans 🫘 

b) The country ranks 13th in Africa in the production of Sesame Seeds, although it used to be the 2nd largest producer in late 80s

c) It currently ranks 11th in the production of Coconut 🥥 

d) The country ranks 22nd in Oranges 🍊 Production in Africa and 25th in Tomatoes 🍅 production 

e) It's also the 10th largest producer of dates in Africa, with an annual production of 13,784 MTs

f) Somalia 🇸🇴 has the 12th highest population of Goats 🐐 in Africa estimated as 11.6 Million in 2021

g) It also has the 2nd highest population of CAMELS 🐫 in Africa after Chad 🇹🇩 and 18th largest herd of cattle 🐄 in the continent 

4. Somalia 🇸🇴 has a forest cover of nearly 10% which is more than the forest cover in Kenya 🇰🇪, Lesotho 🇱🇸, Côte d'Ivore 🇨🇮 among others Countries 

5. Somalia 🇸🇴 has the highest share of its population living outside its boundaries. Nearly 2.2 Million Somalis live in diaspora
