{UAH} Nigeria bans Ethiopian Airlines over breach of passenger rig
Friends
This is very interesting, for I happen to be a single African that boycotted Ethiopian Airlines, I just don’t fly them, and for a simple reason, I booked to fly with them and that was many years ago, from Toronto to Entebbe with my daughter, We reached London and my seat to Addis was okay but the seat for my daughter had been taken away and given to an Ethiopian. We had booked that flight about a month before, and it was fully confirmed. So we stayed in London for I wouldn’t leave my daughter alone in London, I called my travel agent and advised her that I had booked a hotel and I was sleeping until when I would get a flight. She okayed it.
We found out that someone in New York Ethiopia Airline had removed my daughter’s name and replaced it with an Ethiopian passenger. When we asked why? We were told that the airline has a policy of putting a priority to Ethiopians than none Ethiopians, so if an Ethiopian wants to fly, they boot off any none Ethiopian and fly an Ethiopian, so there was some quark that wanted to go to Addis and they threw her off disregarding our connect to Entebbe. It took us three days in London to get a flight to Entebbe. Ethiopian airline was billed for our stay and all meals. That was my story and I closed the airline and I will never ever fly with them, and now Nigeria has banned them. There is just something wrong with Ethiopian airline policies that Africans just don’t complain about. I took an issue with it and I solved it.

Nigeria bans Ethiopian Airlines over breach of passenger rights
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has banned Ethiopian Airlines alongside four other carriers for breaching passenger rights, APA can report on Friday.
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest and most prestigious carrier was sanctioned in violations of NCAA regulations under Part 19, which govern passenger rights.
The authority in a statement said the ban marked a significant regulatory intervention aimed at safeguarding air travelers during the peak holiday season.
The Ethiopian airlines is accused of failing to process refunds within stipulated timelines, mishandling and short-landing baggage, and not responding promptly to directives issued by the NCAA.
As a flagship airline in Africa known for its global reach and operational excellence, Ethiopian Airlines’ inclusion in the NCAA’s enforcement action has raised eyebrows.
The NCAA has made clear that even leading international carriers like Ethiopian Airlines are not exempt from regulatory compliance.
“We are committed to protecting passengers and ensuring airlines adhere to the rules,” Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection was quoted as saying during a press conference in Abuja.
