{UAH} If Canada offered expedited citizenship for people fleeing the US, what would be the reaction in the States? By blonde bitch

I'm gonna say this as an American who lives in a state that borders Canada and at one time looked at immigrating there 20+ years ago.

Canada isn't easy to immigrate to. The majority of people I hear voicing such "ideas" have no clue how difficult it would be or are ignorant of the fact they don't meet the requirements.

Canada, and many other countries won't offer expedited immigration to Americans, especially right now.

Most other countries have far stricter immigration policies than the US, and Canada is one of them.

When you add in Canada is already dealing with a housing shortage, and preparing for a possible invasion from the US under Drumpster Fire, they are not likely to let possible traitors, spies, or saboteurs in all willy-nilly.

Even if you didn't vote, or voted Harris, it won't matter. Canada cannot afford to trust ANY American looking to immigrate. This isn't the 1960–70's with people fleeing the Vietnam Draft.

Not to mention a large portion of those who might consider "fleeing" to Canada don't qualify to immigrate. Most aren't young enough, skilled enough, nor wealthy enough to move to Canada.

Yeah, you can't just show up and hope a job at the equivalent of a Canadian McD's is going to help you immigrate.

As some Canadians on here have pointed out, if it ever gets to the point that Americans might be able to seek refugee status, that won't mean immigration is an option. It means those refugees will live in refugee camps, and be treated humanely, but not eligible for citizenship. The refugees would basically be given safe shelter and fed, but not much else.

Then again, Americans wouldn't have to consider fleeing the US if they had stopped voting for MAGA/Republicans and supported the push for better policies in the last decade or so.

Hell, we could still be allies with Canada if 30% of the eligible voters had gotten off their ass or pulled their head out of their ass and voted for Harris.
