FBI Director Kash Patel is urging people not to mourn Assata Shakur, the godmother of Tupac Shakur, after her recent passing in Cuba at 78 due to health complications. 

Patel refers to Shakur as a "terrorist" and "convicted cop killer" who murdered New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster in 1973. 

Shakur was convicted in 1977 and sentenced to life imprisonment but escaped in 1979 with the help of the Black Liberation Movement and was granted asylum in Cuba by Fidel Castro.

Patel's statement emphasizes that Shakur's actions should not be romanticized, and mourning her death dishonors the sacrifices of law enforcement officers. "Mourning her is spitting on the badge and the blood of every cop who gave their life in service," Patel said. This sentiment has sparked mixed reactions online, with some defending Shakur's legacy as a revolutionary icon and others agreeing with Patel's assessment.
