{UAH} Gays have no place in the church

Gays have no place in the church

I wholeheartedly support Archbishop Stanley Ntagali for saying that gay bishops do not belong in the Anglican church. Ntagali, who holds the same views about gay marriage, has made it clear that the Church of Uganda cannot support homosexuality, the same path his predecessor, Luke Orombi, took.

The Bible clearly defines a bishop as being blameless and the husband of one wife. Moreover, because the Church is called to holiness, Ntagali has rejected financial assistance from the Episcopal Church in America, which consecrated a gay bishop, Gene Robinson, in 2003. President Museveni has always said that while Uganda does not persecute homosexuals, it does not promote the act of homosexuality.

One of the advantages of Uganda funding over 80 per cent of her 2013/14 financial budget is that our nation will no longer be subjected to economic blackmail from foreign nations that were attempting to impose their homosexual agenda on us by threatening to withhold aid. Indeed, it is commendable that key figures in our country have not been cowed and continue to strongly oppose homosexuality.
