{UAH} Tamgho beats world athletics record, but.....

The Moscow World Athletics Championships have just come to a very successful close.
Our Uganda is proud of our great national hero Stephen Kiprotich who has once again fetched us gold
and is now a subject of very serious discussion, debate ,etc all over France, a country which adores athletics
and in particular a place where great world marathon runners are seen as global heroes! Once again, Stephen has
given a good lesson to Kenyans and Ethiopians and has shown how Uganda has very great potential to produce
many world-class athletes. Thank you, our very much beloved Stephen Kiprotich! And congs to all our participants!
France has been moved by young Tamgho Teddy ( 25 ), a French athlete of Camerounian origin, who has won gold in
the triple jump and has set a new national record ( 18 m 04 ), a feat which places him among the only three world athletes
who have ever crossed the 18-metre mark in the event! The other two being actual world record holder, Britain's Edwards
Jonathan ( 18 m 29 ) and USA's Kenny Harisson ( 18 m 09 ). both marks were reached 18 years ago!
Tamgho, who is also France's indoor champion for the event ( 17 m 92 ), is a genius trained by Cuban coach Pedroso
who want s to push him to world record feat. Actually, Tamgho's fourth jump had passed the world record mark by several
centimetres but had unfortunately gone over the step-board with an encroach of just a centimetre, and as a result he recorded
a no-jump! Sorry! World record holder, Jonathan, was around and was commenting the event on BBC. He has always anticipated
his world record to be beaten by young Tamgho, a thing which was going to be reality in Moscow. anyway, the young man
has only got to wait for another occasion, and he will indeed do it!
Tomgho, who speaks both French and English, impressed journalists with his eloquence and he looked a very smart champion.
He lifted shoulder-high his mother whom he takes for his global heaven! The mum had courage to travel  to Moscow where she rented
a room in a small hotel and was one of the thousands to push son Tomgho!
Moscow, thanks to Tomgho and an Ukrainian athlete, nearly proved that the ancient records in triple jump and high jump will soon
be shown an exit.
Another phenomenal discovery of the games was Kenyan javelin thrower, Julius Yego, who captained the Kenyan squad.
Yego, the All African Games champion, nearly won bronze when he was relegated to fourth place after being surpassed by just
a few centimetres by a Russian athlete who had all his crowd with him. Yego made a very formidable 85 m 40 and was just only
1 m 77  behind the winning athlete who is also the world champion and record-holder! Many now point to Yego as a potential
gold medallist at the next Olympics. And he has a lot in future since he is only 24.
Yego showed the continued rise of Africa in the field events in which the Black Continent will one day shine!

G.H.K.
