2. 16 Women die everyday in Uganda and as we talk one or two are dying due to lack of commitment of the government in place. And 50,000 women die every year. Uganda has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world standing at 435 deaths per 100,000 births while unsafe abortion causes up to 26 per cent of the maternal deaths.
One of every 25 pregnant women faces a life time risk of pregnancy related death.If 16 women (children not included) die every day, then by 2016 we shall have lost 22, 832 lives in maternal death. Its a shame to have women dying while giving life in the 21st century! Shame on our governments!What would be the measures to be taken to decrease the number down or to have no woman die at all?
