Nakuru grapples with 1,785 teacher shortage
Nakuru county commissioner Mohamed Birik has said public schools in the county are experiencing shortage of 1,785 teachers. Birik said Kuresoi, Molo, and Bahati are the worst hit. He said the government is planning to recruit more teachers. Birik said his office will work with the governor to ensure more teachers are employed.
"The county has been adversely been affected by the shortage but fortunately the government is making some effort," he said. Speaking yesterday in Nakuru, Birik said the boards of governors in the affected schools are hiring more teachers. "Am happy because the BOGs are making some efforts," he said
Birik said the government is committed to providing free education and will address the shortage so that it does not compromise the quality of education.

"The county has be adversely been affected by the shortage of teachers but fortunately the government is making some effort to recruit more teaching staff to all our public schools in our county" he said Speaking yesterday in Nakuru, the county commissioner said that efforts are also being made by Board of Governors BOG of the affected schools in the county to recruit teachers to curb the shortage of staff.
