{UAH} Welcome Bank from Dallas
Dear UNAA Members & Friends of UNAA,
I trust that we are all settled back in our daily routines or at least in the process of doing so.
I want to first of all thank each and everyone of you who took time out of your schedules to join us in Dallas, Texas.
Based on what I have been hearing and reading, I can tell we all had a good time overall, and of course since we are human, we are bound to have erred somewhere somehow along the way. Irrespective of where the blame lies, on behalf of the organization, I offer our deepest apologies and a promise to improve on some areas, while replicating on those areas that we shone.
If you have any comments, and suggestions on what can be improved, please and send an email to info@unaa.org, many good suggestions may unfortunately be lost in the thousands of emails on UNAALIST and UNAANET, UAH, etc.
Thank you to the members on the Dallas Community for your hospitality, UNAA Dallas COC for your tenacity, UNAA BOT for your wisdom, the Outgoing UNAA Executive for love of the organization, UNAA Council Members for love of community, UNAA Electoral Commission for your professionalism, volunteers and everybody that I may have left out. UNAA will forever be indebted to you because of your service.
To the UNAA Members, this is your organization, it does not belong to Francis or Brian. It belongs to you all. The victors in the election were not Mr. Kwesiga and Mr. Atigo, you, the UNAA members were the true victors. UNAA will be as good as it's members. If we respect each other UNAA will be respected, if we abuse each other, UNAA will be abused. If we love each other, UNAA will be loved, if we hate each other, UNA will be hated. If we work with each other, people and other entities will want to work with UNAA.
Let's go out and grow membership now, and not wait for 2015.
Please join me in thanking President Francis Ssennoga for his steady, calm leadership as President and over the last eight years that he has been involved in the UNAA leadership. UNAA is a better organization because of his involvement and I look forward to continuing to working with him over the coming months during the transition and after.
I would also like to thank members of the outgoing UNAA leadership who are not coming back; Mrs. Brenda Kiberu-Kalema for her selfless service over the last eight years, Ms. Henrietta Wamala for her energy and absolute dedication to this organization for the last four years, Mr. Timothy Gaburungyi for being the workhorse that he his and hope that he continues to be for UNAA, and lastly for Ms. Consesa Nyakaisiki-Kiyimba for her steady determination in the face of insurmountable obstacles. The UNAA Council Members who have stepped aside, Ms. Anne Kiyimba, Mr. Ronnie Kabaale, Mr. John Nebaza, Ms. Milcah Iga, thank you all so very much for your service and friendship. I have learnt so much for each and everyone of you, and look forward to learning even more over the next two years.
Serving UNAA is often a thankless job, and we ought to learn to pay tribute to those who have dared to serve. We owe that to the next generation of Ugandan Americans to inspire them into UNAA leadership and instill a love for community, for nation.
Over the coming months, we are going to be recruiting talent into the organization with the appointment of the Directors of Communication, Development, and Finance. We ask each and everybody who truly loves UNAA to stand up and serve. If you are interested, or know someone who might be interested, or qualified, please send an email to info@unaa.org, complete with their resumes.
We want to recruit from across North America, the most talented and qualified individuals, but we can not do it without your help.
We are going to grow this organization together, we are going to grow its membership, we are going to to establish programs beyond the convention. These plans, many derived from my platform, and some from the platforms of Mr. Joseph Musoke and Mr. Francis Ssennoga as well as suggestions from UNAA members will be communicated in due course. We shall also be reporting to you the financial status of the organization after Dallas heading into San Diego. UNAA is growing, and UNAA is united.
Thanks to the good work of my predecessor, Mr Francis Ssennoga, and UNAA leadership based in California, San Diego 2014 already has a hotel and registration is already open and we can now concentrate on other things.
Congratulations to the newly elected UNAA Executive and Council Members, I look forward to working with all of you to transform UNAA into that organization we all dream about.
I want to be a leader for all Ugandans in North America, irrespective of religious background, generation, gender, political affiliation, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, whether you voted for me or any of my opponents or even did not vote for at all.
I am deeply humbled by the trust you have given me, committed to my promises, and determined build UNAA, and I ask you kindly that, lets build UNAA together.
Brian M. Kwesiga
