{UAH} WHO SAYS PATIENTS HAVE RIGHTS? Thieves Raid Mulago Hospital
Thieves Raid Mulago Hospital
Patients at Mulago Referral hospital in Kampala are complaining of thieves who are frequently stealing their money and property.
According to Hashim Kasinga, the DPC Mulago police station, they have
registered an increase in the number of cases of theft within hospital wards.
"The most recent one is a complaint from one Didas Ayebazibwe, a patient in ward 3B. He lost Shs 500,000."
He also noted that in the same ward, one Harriet Nakato lost Shs 100,000 on Thursday this week.
"We suspect that patients may be stealing from each other, especially at
night when most of them are asleep," said Kasinga.
Furthermore, a Toyota corolla car number UAF 859H belonging to one Ibrahim Mayuge was stolen after he left it in the parking yard of Mulago hospital.
Mayuge claims that he delivered his patient at the hospital at around 1:00pm but upon return from the doctor's room, the car had been taken.
"It seems we have got wrong elements within the hospital, because in the past two weeks, two cars have been stolen," warned Kasinga.
