Mugabe tells Kenyatta to skip ICC trial – report

2013-10-15 12:21

Zim MPs clash over food, as millions face hunger  Cape Town – Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe reportedly advised Kenyan leader Uhuru Kenyatta not to attend his trial set to begin at the International Criminal court (ICC) in The Hague on 12 December.

Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have been charged with crimes against humanity for allegedly masterminding the ethnic violence that left at least 1 100 dead after disputed 2007 elections.

According to News Day, Mugabe's spokesperson George Charamba confirmed the president didn't mince his worlds over the ICC's alleged intransigence, saying it was heavily biased against African leaders.

The veteran leader said Kenyatta could not reduce himself by appearing before ICC when no Western leader had been subjected to such treatment.

Mugabe made it clear that the model of the ICC was flawed, said the report.
