Indian Business man and Owner of Rafiki Building on the run after Police Unearths a Garden of Marijuana atop his Building

By Ronald Gold

Police in Kampala are hunting for the owner of Rafiki Building, city businessman Hussein Rafiki Muhammed after uprooting marijuana his roof top.

The closure of the building came up after police discovered that the owners of the building had put soil on top of the building and were growing marijuana there.

James Ruhweza, the Divisional Police Commander Central Police Station revealed that police were compelled to close the building until further notice as they wanted to carry out further investigations.

One of the building managers Mehul Patel who was found at the building was arrested and is currently detained at CPS.

“We have closed the building until the owner surfaces and tells us how he has been growing opium and where he has been selling it, said Ruhweza. He further said police got information that the Indians have  been selling opium to people along William Street and also exporting.

Police are now hunting for the owner of the building who is currently on the run to be grilled about why he decided to plant illegal substances when he clearly understood their implications to the public. He is also meant to explain where he has been selling it and when he started the plantation.

Ruhweza added that they got information from tenants that their bosses had made the top of the building an out of bounds area for almost 4 years and was only accessible to managers which raised suspicion.

It was until one of the tenants managed to sneak up and to his disbelief found  a garden of marijuana.

However the arrested Patel said he had no idea why his boss had planted marijuana and advised police to hunt for the owner who was aware of all the ongoings. Ruhweza acknowledged the Indian investors will be charged with 6 different cases depending on the advice of the Resident State Attorney after perusing the file.
