BUNGOMA, KENYA: Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD)'s Bungoma senatorial candidate Moses Wetangula has torn into Amani leader Musalia Mudavadi terming him a frustrated political failure out to seek cheap political favours.
The Ford-Kenya leader, hit at the former Deputy Prime Minister saying he suffers from a weakness that can only be likened to a lion that has no space in a kingdom that has active and vibrant lions adding that they were not political equals, "I am not interested in engaging Mudavadi in proxy wars because he is not in my political calibre and doesn't play in my league whatsoever," Wetangula said in a statement.
In a strongly worded statement, Wetangula accused Mudavad of betraying his Luyha community and Kenyans at large. "The people of Kenya will never forgive him for betraying them in 2002 when he had the chance of ascending to power. He did the same in 2013 when Kenyans were fighting for real change. He was demonized by his suitors and now he is desperately seeking favours from the same people who betrayed him," Wetangula said.
Wetangula said he wished not to respond to affronts from Mudavadi or other Jubilee allied leaders direct at their Cord counterparts but was forced to do so after the continued tirade touched on his personality.
He termed as reckless an act by the Amani leader to use his personal assistant to hurl insults at him through the media and challenged him to do so himself in public. "I want to tell Mr Mudavadi to be man enough and stop hiding behind the curtains and using proxies to throw salvos at me. If he thinks he is a leader worth my responses, I challenge him to meet me in any public rally/forum anywhere in including his Sabatia home for a face-off and see who between us will give out facts to the people," he said.
Wetangula accused Mudavadi of being a political coward playing his games in darkness and challenged him to wake up from political slumber to come to terms with the reality that he no longer has any niceties in Western Kenya.
"He does things in political wilderness occasionally punctuated by cheap favours from people who sympathize with him and whom he turns around to betray," he said.
