{UAH} DP President Norbert Mao Arrested

The President of Democratic Party (DP), Hon. Norbert Mao has been arrested.

The Uganda Police, mounted a road block this morning at Katungulu Trading centre, and arrested the DP President, Hon. Norbert Mao, who was travelling to Kasese, in Western Uganda.

Cause of arrest; to block him from reaching and talking to the people in Kasese Town. Hon. Mao was in the company of Mr. Imam Makumbi, the DP Vice President Western Region and Mr. Harbert Retagwera, the DP National Executive Committee (NEC) member representing Rwenzori Sub-Region.

Additional information from Kasese indicates that the FDC President Gen. Mugisha Muntu has also been blocked from addressing a radio talk show and that air communication at Guide Radio Radio station, where he was to address, has been switched off.  . 

The leaders of the Parliamentary Opposition Political Parties and some CSOs were scheduled to address a joint rally in Kasese town to exp[lain to the public the issues they think need to be considered for electoral reforms ahead of 2016 general elections.
