{UAH} Gen Koang chases UPDF out of Unity States in South Sudan




“The government troops are currently being pursued in directions towards Poktap Payam west. A lot of equipment have been already captured from the fleeing anti-democratic and genocidal forces of Kiir.”


Brig Gen Lul Koang, rebel spokesperson, says SPLA announcements that their forces are advancing on Nasir “is wishful thinking”.


“The allegations are serious deviations from the truth and reality on the ground.”


In a related development, rebels also say they inflicted heavy casualties and repulsed JEM fighters in Unity States.


“In the last three days, (22, 23 and 24-3-2014) Kiir’s Allies from Justice and Equality Movement fighters attacked our positions at Buaw Payam in Koc County, Unity State,” reads a statement from the rebels.


“In all the engagements, the enemy forces were repulsed and suffered losses both in terms of personnel and equipment as indicated”:


1.   8 fighters were killed

2.   1 Nuer traitor who acted as a local guide was captured alive

3.   2 Toyota Landcruisers mounted with 12.7 were captured

4.   4 PKM light machine guns captured

5.   5 RPGs 7 captured with alot of  shells and  Several boxes of ammonition.


The attacking forces were engaged by Jagei-Nuer, Leek-Nuer, Bul-Nuer and Jikany White Armies under the direct command of Koc County Commissioner, Capt George Galoi, continues the statement.


“An enemy convoy which comprised of 10 vehicles was engaged by our SPLA/M Gallant forces under overall command of Maj. Gen. James Koang Chuol.”


SPLA spokesperson, Col Philip Aguer, has not yet made a comment on these developments.
