Ugandan government plans to send Special Forces to Somalia, to protect UN Agencies’ facilities in Mogadishu, according to Ugandan Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF). Military spokesperson, Lt. Col Paddy Ankunda 410 special troops will be deployed to Mogadishu to free bulk of AMISOM forces from escort duties to pursue al Shabaab militants. In an interview with VOA Somali Service, Ali Aden Humad, the Spokesperson of African Union Mission in Somalia, said the troops would not be part of the mission, adding that it indicates lack of trust for AMISOM.
