The eight are currently detained at Wandegeya Police Station.
The arrested have been using high technology to deduct airtime from people's phones and sometimes divert calls using laptops, microchips, CCTV devices and head lamp interconnections.
According to Kareto Akhim the leader of the tech master minds, they had also started getting used airtime scratch card serial numbers and using them to make airtime for resale.
He revealed that he studied telecom technology from Dubai and on return, failed to get a job and the few opportunities that came his way were not well paying. He then saved up and started his own telecom transmitter company which he has been using to defraud thousands of unsuspecting Ugandans. He further noted that all his employees had been trained by experts.
He also revealed that they have been doing this business for over ten years; a period in which they have managed to stay clear of the police and other security agencies. By the time of the arrest, they had evaded the Airtel Mast on Bombo road with the aim of taking the power house CCTV cameras and siphon generator petrol.
After over powering the security guard at the scene, they managed to break through but they were arrested after the residents of the area alerted the police of the intrusion.
The Airtel network security manager Yasin sekamatte also revealed that they are experiencing massive theft through white collar technology.
According to Kampala Metropolitan mouth piece Ibin Ssenkumbi , the arrested are the most highly trained personnel and have been on their radar for a while now.  “This form of theft can result into terrorism and such people must be brought to justice,†Ssenkumbi noted. They have been booked vide file CRB 3/3/10/2014 and are set to appear in court on a later date.
