Omusinga Charles Wesley Rumored to Have Escaped to Exile as Security Agencies Ponders on Whether to Arrest Him for Abetting a secessionist war In Uganda

By Carlos Ghadafi

Charles-Wesley-Mumbere

The embattled king of the Rwenzururu kingdom Omusinga Charles Wisely Mumbere is rumored to have fled from his Buhikira Palace in Kasese Town, to an unknown destination. Sources have intimated to us that immediately after holding après conference, in which he took the opportunity to deny his involvement in the recent fighting’s that claimed over 90 people, Charles Wesley Mumbere disappeared to an unknown place.

‘Nobody knows where he is at the moment’’, said one of the guards who preferred to remain anonymous.

Sources said that the Mumbere sneaked through the Ruwenzori mountain routes and is believed to have connected to a neighboring country where he is most likely to catch a plane to America where he lived for many years during his first exile.

Rumors of Mumbere’s flight have not taken anyone by surprise because he was a subject of investigation regarding the recent attacks by armed elements believed to be directly under his command.

Although he summarily denied any involvement in the attacks, the evidence on the ground was implicating him directly.

At the same time convoy of the inspector general of police Gen kaly Kayihura was seen moving around Kasese sparking more fears that the Omusinga was about to be netted.

With the fear of being arrested getting closer, Mumbere decided to dress up in military outfit and called a press conference where he absolved himself from the accusations which had been propagated by president Museveni himself.

While responding to the attacks, president Museveni told the nation that the Omusinga was responsible for the attacks. The Ugandan president then concluded by cynically saying that ‘’you reap what you sow†’ an indication that the Omusinga was about to face fire.

It has since been established that the kingdom prime minister has been arrested together with some ministers of the Rwenzururu kingdom. The country is now on tenterhooks regarding whether the Omusinga is the next on to be arrested.

By the time we wrote and posted this story, the whereabouts of the Omusinga were unknown leading to suspicion that he could have fled out of the country to avoid AN imminent arrest.

We tried to make frantic calls to his office but they all went unanswered leading to our suspicion that something is surely amiss. Our contact at the Rwenzururu also confirmed to us that he had not seen the Mumbere since yesterday after he held the press conference. .

Earlier on Thursday, he held a press conference where accused his enemies of wrongly accusing him for the attacks.  Incidentally one of the accusers happens to be advanced by president Museveni himself.

The Accusations

We have been told that besides the attacks on security the government was determined to arrest the musinga for advancing a secessionist movement that seeks to break away Bukonzo from Uganda.

Tension had been brooding for weeks before the attacks, particularly in Kasese where leaflets had been circulated, purportedly authored by a British writer, Tom Stancy, claiming that a process at the UN that looked to grant the Bakonzo state status was complete.

The statement claimed that a date for declaring the independence of the Bakonzo state, Yira Republic, would be communicated.

With all these developments, the Omusinga would certainly be within his right to feel insecure.
