12 June 2010: Mutesa's Brother Knew About Plot to Kill the Kabaka
— Prince David Ssimbwa, the younger brother of Sir Edward Mutesa, was aware of a plot by Obote's government to kill the exiled Kabaka. Concerned about his safety, the prince wrote to the Kabaka, warning him to be very careful about a young lady called Tatu Ssekannyo, whose photo he had included in the letter. Below, the prince reveals how he got to know about the plot, and what he did to try to avert it.
During the 1966 invasion of Lubiri, I was arrested by government troops, who mistook me for my brother, because we looked alike and often appeared together in public.
