{UAH} UNAA Welcomes Nitubaasa Coffee from Kigezi

Trade and Investment Forum

Friday August 29, 2014 – 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

26th Annual Convention of the Ugandan North American Association

Hyatt Regency Hotel, La Jolla (San Diego), CA

UNAA Welcomes Nitubaasa Coffee from Kigezi

Kigezi District was once known as the "Switzerland of East Africa."  Its many terraced fields are what give this part of Uganda its very distinctive character.

The region is also uniquely characterized by some of Uganda's great lakes which include Lake Bunyonyi, Lake Edward, Lake Mutanda and Lake Kyahafi.  Kigezi is also the location of the volcanic mountains known as Muhavura Mountains, and Bwindi National Forest with its famous gorilla population.  There are very high mountain ranges, particularly in Kabale District, Kisoro District and Kanungu District.  In the intervening valleys, often one finds expansive swampy areas, some of which have been reclaimed for pastureland.

Nestled among these hills is a coffee processing company called Nitubaasa Ltd.  Nitubaasa is the brain child of Mr. Hans de Heer who is an immigrant entrepreneur from Holland.  Established in 2012, Nitubaasa's mission is to structure and support coffee smallholders in Kigezi through training and capacity building, to improve the quality and productivity of their coffee gardens, diversify crops to increase income, enabling savings and develop a strong business acumen leading smallholders to invest into the future and uplift their entire community.

UNAA is pleased to welcome Nitubaasa (Coffee) Ltd. to the Trade and Investments Forum at the upcoming 26th Annual Convention of the Ugandan North American Association.

The principle objectives of the Trade and Investments Forum at the upcoming UNAA convention are:

1.       The presentation and exchange of information about trade and investment between Uganda and North America (US/Africa Leaders' Summit, AGOA, UIA, OPIC, US Trade Office, etc.)

2.       To identify and discuss real investment and partnership opportunities between Ugandans living in North America and Ugandan businesses.

So come to the forum on Friday August 29th starting at 9:00 AM and discover if Uganda offers any opportunities for you in the tourism industry, investment in financial instruments, or maybe explore the potential for a representative relationship with a Uganda coffee, vanilla, natural products, handicraft or other company.
