The Media has portrayed JPAM as the only second most powerful person in Uganda after M7. But JPAM has been sold to the Public as someone capable of turning the tables on M7 his master. Some sections in the UPDF, Executive, Judiciary and Police and Private sector had started taking sides ahead of 2016 which was the main aim of Mbabazi. (Refer to the youth taking to Kampala streets in support of JPAM and or M7 depending on the issue at hand).
FDC the street protesting party had clearly faded. It was now Amama who was rising to assume the power on streets. Its clear that JPAM had declared unofficial political Showdown against M7 which would climax in the 2016 Bid.
The Media thus has to chase anything BREAKING on JPAM and M7. And of course the two characters using the same Log book know how to fight a war in Media but M7 is the super star in this game.
Any move in this game makes news and its what the public is interested in and Remember JPAM is on the receiving end and humiliation (this is what we read from the media content and it seems its what M7 is up to just to prove that he is the War General as he warned way back).
The rise of JPAM was being seen by the outside world as a sign that the ruling NRM had finally come to an end… yes the NRM party has very much weakened but it has been kept alive by the UPDF (that in such times functions as guarantor of NRM).
NRM pro M7 new-age cadres and the intelligencia were quick to do anything in their powers to plz their master following the sacking of JPAM. (by the fact that JPAM had been sacked meant that he was toothless and Brig. Kyanda himself could come in and disarm his guards while M7 was away.) The Actions of Brig.Kyanda could have triggered a series of activities that saw quick mobilization of youths to welcome the Master. (from the pictures u can see it wasn't M7s plan to be received by the Youth..even his speech didn't show there was too much planning for this event. It was like a surprise Birthday party.)
The Media in Uganda clearly knows this subject will not be any worth to write about in the next three days of next week. The government is not gonna allow itself waste so much time countering JPAM crisis which was a creation by Pro JPAM and pro M7 NRM youths.
For M7 kicking out Amama at a time Todwong has been running the NRM party means he had successfully rendered Amama into the Recycle Bin but to their supporters, the showdown will continue probably on Radio talkshows and UAH.
Mr. Opio finally the Two Men (M7 and Amama) are the most prominent persons and make News since the subject is POWER. The Best thing about reporting on this war is its not yet 2016 and havn JPAM out is a win for M7…there wouldn't be enough proof that this has anything to do with JPAM ambitions for State House but M7 will be seen as the only Man with Vision in NRM and the only one who can Clean the party and protect it from thieves and antagonists….thats why he says such antagonists should pack their Bags and Go.
JPAM can quickly Diminish or quickly join DP but not FDC. By Joining another party other than FDC will save him his image..but by Joining FDC will mean that he has been aiming at destroying NRM.
Sharp Journalists should be piling pressure on JPAM to tell the world and his supporters why He remained Silent in all this yet he is nolonger PM. he ofcourse knows (any utterances from anytime after his sacking could be used against him later...But also his silence could be interpreted to mean anything and thus prompt the M7 camp act in a manner that makes News and thus weaken Mbabazi further).
I doubt whether Media have to hold any editorial meeting to evaluate JPAM & M7 fallout story.
PRIME MINISTER is an 'Appointed Official'. In real politics this Position carries less power/value compared to the president, or MP (peoples vote). The media therefore in such a case would be looking for juicy bits like the rolling down of uniformed men into JPAMs house (that's why Brig.Kyanda invited media at JPAM house…its what makes news more than anything after.)
Equally, the last time Ugandans willingly thronged Entebbe Airport to welcome a Ugandan was when Gaetano Kagwa had represented Uganda 'WELL' in BBA in South Africa (the News Value here was SEX, the news Value in JPAM/M7 is Prominence and Eminence of the characters.)
So it was very newsworthy for media to cover M7s welcome crowd though most people seemed to have been induced with something (food,drinks and Tshirts)—it was clear ppo were not celebraling but there for a deal…but for Gaetano Kagwa crowds---u noticed Happiness from people's hearts (some even cried,signed autographs and ppo camped there for three days while waiting for their Hero).
Instead Ugandan Editors should pindown NRM nucleus to determine what the final nail in JPAMs coffin would be. But in this case its nolonger news (the military men at JPAMs house and crowds welcoming M7 cannt replay..its over.)
In simple Terms The President Of Uganda Appoints the Prime Minister.
That's why Prof. Apollo Nsibambi served Longer as PM and this wasn't becoz he was a good officer on duty but just becoz he wasn't ambicious as JPAM.
