{UAH} Kikuyu youths blame their alcoholism on witchcraft
Folks;
This is a powerful commentary about the depth of helplessness that our young people experience on a daily basis across most of Africa.
The writer makes it personal, because he's exposing a latent, deadly underground practice that has imprisoned young and old men of his own village.
I can relate to his lamentation. In my home village, there sprang the equivalent of "corner stores" that specialized in booze and few household merchandise. It took the intervention of clan elders to set "operating hours" in order for the young men to tend to their farms before visiting the drinking dens.
Most alcoholics don't understand the power of alcohol, and so, when they can't wean themselves off booze, they blame their dependence on some super-natural power, from such malevolent force as witchcraft.
