{UAH} 1948 ~KAMPALA UGANDA ~ ROYAL WEDDING KABAKA OF BUGANDA EDWARD MUTESA II
A coffeehouse in Algiers, Algeria(Djazair) in 1899.The name of "Algeria" itself came from the French.Algeria came from al jazair or algeciras in spanish which is arabic for "the islands

Coffee was originally discovered in Ethiopia and spread from there throughout the Muslim world and into Europe.Coffee was first discovered in Jimma area of Ethiopia by a young boy called Caldi.Coffee was initially considered haram and was banned by Ottoman Sheikh ul-Islam Ebussuûd Efendi for its addictive qualities, among other reasons. Later on though, through more investigating into the matter, another fatwa was given by Sheikh ul-Islam Bostanzade Mehmet Efendi allowing for people to drink coffee, as it became known for its health benefits.
Interestingly enough, there is a large statue of J. F. Kulczycki in Vienna, who introduced Austria to Turkish coffee and opened up one of the first coffee houses in Europe.Christians in Europe were forbidden from drinking coffee as it was called the Muslim drink .Black waters it was called Kahawa by Arabs then The Turks called it Kahvi but the Venetian traders called it Caffi and the rest is history.
