2.Mrs Janet Wesonga, Uganda's first female Mayor (of Mbale).
She was appointed October 1967 and stayed on for four years. Occasion and specific date unknown.Her Worship is still strong. Recently hosted her at a Semei Kakungulu event in Mbale.Her maiden name is Tingu from Buwabwala, wife of the late Bishop Wesonga of Mbale. Their son, Dr Sam Wesonga is a family practitioner in the US. Amongst her many sisters and brothers, Mrs Joyce Mungherera is one of her younger Sisters who was with the YWCA for many years.


3.During the 1400s and 1500s, West Africa became a hub of Islamic knowledge, surpassing older centers of learning in the Middle East.Main contributor was mansa mousa of Mali.
