{UAH} The Rise Of ‘Fake’ Ugandan Celebrities And Why Most Of Them Will Die Broke
HONESTLY I consider a celebrity to be someone who is widely celebrated and recognized for remarkable actions or work leading him/her to be famous.
Ivan Semwanga is the head of sangomas in South Africa
By that definition, people like Stephen Kiprotich, Moses Kipsiro, Dorcus Inzikuru, John Aki Bua(all gold medal winners in athletics), Pastor George Okudi(who won the Africa Kora awards), Abby Mukiibi Nkaaga an actor, known for The Last King of Scotland (2006), Sometimes in April (2005) and The Silent Army (2008) in that light, are celebrities.
Some Ugandans, refer to Most Artistes, Comedians, Models, South African based Sangomas and media personalities as 'celebrities', but they are, actually, just popular, until they find a reason to be likened to a celebrity. Some of these people have no distinct career path and litter themselves across all corners of the Ugandan entertainment industry, playing the role of "jack of all trades."
Bad Black is currently 'enjoying' a stint in Luzira Prison
The truth is our "celebs" over fake it. Most artistes for example, borrow cars, clothes, money they can't pay back and everything else just to attend events or to show off on social media and impress fans. They take pictures with other people's property, wording the caption so carefully, it conceals the fact that it isn't theirs. There are also fake relationships created by PR experts, fake marriages, fake drama and fights, even "fake" babies, all done in an effort to keep the public talking about their client.

You see them jump from being terrible video vixens, models, bleached and proud, celeb best friends to lousy red carpet presenters for radio and television, bloggers and, before you know, they start featuring in movies, dropping awful music and even have the guts to champion talk shows claiming expertise in these fields.
My major issue with the fake lifestyle many "celebs" portray is that there are young impressionable minds that look up to them and believe it's real. They believe all I have to do is sing like XYZ and I will also be buying a Benz or Hammer. I wish these fake lifestyles came with a disclaimer but sadly they don't.
