{UAH} Top-rated US network anchor suspended for lying
Folks;
It's painful to watch Brian William start his "final descend" from the perch he has occupied for a decade as the chief anchor of National Broadcasting Corporation, NBC, television's Nightly News.
Turns out, Williams lied about flying in a military helicopter that took in enemy fire a while back! In the last three days, he has tried to wiggle himself from this messy, by blaming, among others, a foggy memory.
The damage had been done, because rightly, the national audience and advert-paying corporations demanded accountability from this well-liked newsman.
His fall from grace is the second for a major American news anchor after CBS's Dan Rather was showed the door in 2004, after he broadcast a piece alleging that George W had used family connections to avoid military draft to serve during the Vietnam wars.
When a journalist plays loose with facts, even a harmless lie like Brian's, the credibility of his outlet comes into question. In the competitive evening news market in US, Williams has turned, overnight, from a money-making machine to a liability. NBC will cut his loose.
